Introducing: a Celebration of Strength, Love and Compassion in Business

#HumansWithAgency Kelly

We believe that the world needs more businesses that challenge the status quo. That exude energy, passion and power. That embody strength, compassion, and love.

These businesses are not just the obvious ones, like environmental work, health care and technology. They are in household cleaning, cosmetics, home improvement, entertainment. They’re in every channel we can imagine.

The humans building these businesses are heroes.

I have a lot of “biz crushes”. Companies that have really changed the game for the world and for me personally. A few are local. A few are bigger than that. And all of them have impact far beyond the doors of their offices.

To name a very few (and since this article isn’t sponsored they probably have no idea how girl-crushy I’m getting over here):

Primally Pure. Founded by a woman named Bethany McDaniel . Primally Pure was born “out of her passion for real, recognizable ingredients - not just on her plate, but in her skincare products”. Um yes, we absorb so many toxins through our skin, why would we be careless with it?

…and speaking of absorbing toxins….

Let’s talk about Branch Basics cleaning products. Based right here in Minneapolis, and founded by Kelly Love, Allison Evans and Marilee Nelson—three women who are my personal heroes. They “believe choices like the food we put in our bodies, the paint we put on our walls, and the cleaners we use around our homes have power; the power to rob us of good health or to cultivate it.” As someone with an autoimmune disease, I can tell you first-hand how this approach has changed my life.

Constellation Acupuncture is built by Kim Christensen and Amy Kuretsky. As health practitioners in today’s pandemic economy they have my special esteem—and their creative approach to dealing with business in a lock-down has my admiration. YES, Chinese Medicine can be administered via telehealth!

Farmgirl Flowers was started by a woman named Christina with a seemingly simple goal: “I want to build a company that I would want to buy from, sell to, and work for.”. In the meantime she made the floral business more mordern, more innovative, more morally upright and frankly more beautiful.

These folks deserve to be celebrated. And that’s why we’re launching this series. To honor the everyday heroes who are doing the work to make our lives better through business. Some will be clients. Some will not.

We’ll do an interview and pick their brains a bit. We’ll learn something about their outlook, and start some conversations. Stay tuned, our first feature is coming soon!

Do you know a human who is using who is using their power in business to change the shape of the world? Nominate them now.
