Sue Boxrud: Rescripting the Entertainment Industry
Here at The Agency Co., we firmly believe that business-owners are changing the shape of the world with their ventures. Today we’re proud to feature Sue Boxrud.
Sue is a leader in so many ways. Yes, she is a badass in business. She’s also kind, forthright, and committed to using her day job to promote marginalized voices. When we worked with Sue to launch one of her projects, Out of the Box Booking (nope, not all of our #humanswithagency are clients, but Sue has been one), we were thrilled to support her goal of adding more texture, depth and diversity to the entertainment line-ups at colleges and in corporate environments.
We can all learn from her bold and compassionate approach to business.
Here’s what she shared:
🌎 How is your company changing today’s landscape?
I work in the entertainment business and we have had to learn how to pivot quickly and effectively during these past few months. Our company is offering unique solutions to our buyers to meet their needs and pressure points as well as assisting our roster of artists to maintain the same quality levels for their show – no matter in person or through a screen.
👊 What is your favorite part about your job of lady-boss biz owner?
Showing my two daughters that you can love what you do and your job doesn’t have to be a negative part of your life.
🔥 How would you define “agency” when you think about business ownership?
As a business owner, your influence also comes with a responsibility to reflect your values through your business practices. For me, I believe in kindness above all, so that’s what my customer service looks like. I believe in elevating marginalized voices, so I want to be sure the people I represent feel that support behind them. Your agency as a business owner becomes the mark you leave for those who walk the path behind you.
📣 What would you say to a woman with a great business idea, but a hesitancy to launch?
Do it scared! If you are passionate about what you do, even the hard days are better than the alternative. Surround yourself with people who will push you to be your best and find the things you can delegate and do that!
🙌 Who inspires you to be a force in your industry?
The people I work with inspire me the most; their need for creativity, constantly working on unique solutions, and the drive to always be better.
